Updated September forecasts

Hi everyone.

I posted weather updates for all September for all regions listed on my website on the 31st August. However, it seems some readers can't get the new forecasts. My ISP says the problem is your end. But I have now had emails from quite a few disappointed people. Sorry to be a bother, but if you ARE reading September successfully could you please just reply to me right now with just one word "yes" or "no" Then I'll get a better idea what's going on. if I get a lot of 'nos' I'll post all towns in a special ezine until the problem gets sorted.

Meanwhile, here's my report over the next few days:

We had a Full Moon on Sunday, and the apogee on Saturday. This is the time, between Full Moon and last Q that the weather very often briefly plays up. There are certain times in the moon's phase cycle, and this is one of them.
The other main time is around the New Moon.
Also, the moon crosses the equator tomorrow, in its transit traveling north. Whenever it does that it sets up turbulence in the atmosphere. But there's no major storm systems around, just an area of low pressure passing through. I don't think it's anything to batten down the hatches over. If any rain I'd pick about today until the moon rises, which will be around 7 this evening. The evening will be clear enough to see the moon. Even though it looks nasty out there, I've got mainly DRY weather coming, so I'm a bit at odds with the forecasters, who are predicting showers every day in Auckland from now until at least the 13th. I think we'll have cloudy weather for the next couple of days, but not much if any rain, and increasing fine breaks, and I think that will sit over us until maybe the 10th or 11th. It's interesting that the wind is from the E and NE. It's not strictly NE and that NE always brings rain to Auckland. But I think the wind will probably stay mainly easterly until around Friday and then it'll change to S or SE.

September.

We'll see more than average rain in September around the Auckland region, milder temperatures, and actually cloudy and wet over much of the country except in the east. I'd say about half the days in September will be unsettled-looking ones.

Driest times this month will be, for the upper half of N Is: 9th-16th, 27th-30th, Central North, which also means Ruapehu,: 4th-16th, 25th-28th
Wettest day: 19th/20th
Driest day 14th.
Windy days: 12th, 13th, 20th, 25th

It's not a big swell at the moment because of the apogee, which means the moon was furthest away for the month last Saturday, and it's starting to work its way back. It'll be close to earth again around 16th. Other fine places by region in September are likely to be
Lower north: 4th-8th, 12th-14th, 26th-28th
Upper South Is: 3rd-10th, 14th-16th, 25th-30th
Mid S Is: 4th-10th, 13th-16th
Lower S Is: 4th-9th, 13th-14th

I also said the lakes would get some good rain before the end of August and I think that did happen. If you remember all the regular metservices said there'd be no rain until next year, if ever, down there. Well, they're calling off the power crisis, because there's water there.

Fishing: pretty excellent at the moment, and it should be till Thursday

many thanks
Ken

Hey, what a response, I'm truly grateful. Thanks, everyone, so much. It's so nice to be able to count on co-operation like that. The good news is, nearly all seem to be getting the right pages. Only one or two are not and they concede it's probably at their end. Sorry to bother you all but it had me a bit worried. It always pays to check, I guess. BTW, in a week or so's time I shall be posting October for all regions as well, as I am taking off soon for a month in Europe and won't be back till near the the end of October. Any messages sent to me after September 16th will be held over.
anyway, thanks again
best wishes
Ken
